A good place to work while studying or in the summer, but don't plan on sticking around too long!

Ikea Cashier (Current Employee)
Linköping (Sweden)

ProsDouble pay on weekends and holidays
Time and a half after 6pm
Some ability to choose own schedule/ set preferences

ConsCan be hard to get hours, especially if you only have a weekend contract
Schedules come out very late
There is no opportunity for growth

I was told that I would not be considered for a shift leader position because I had a higher education level and they did not believe that they could count on me staying with the company very long. 3 years later, I am still an employee, though I only work weekends during the summer and some shifts during the holidays.

Advice to Senior ManagementAbout half of your employees (at least in the customer service department) are students. If you want to keep these employees and take advantage of their knowledge, you have to show them that they have a future with the company and give them the opportunity to grow.
