Pros

I have worked in many different companies and ING DIRECT is genuinely different in that it offers plenty of leadership opportunities. It feels good to know that we try to do right by the customer and it is not simply an internal slogan, but senior management lives it everyday.

Cons

Compensation is average but the firm offers great developmental opportunities to have impact and rotate into othe responsibilities.

Advice to Management

Stay your course!

    Pros

The company has a lot of integrity. They really do have the customer's interest at heart. They do a lot to help the surrounding community by require community service as well as having a full day each year set aside to work on commuity service projects.

    Cons

They just do not pay enough for the work you do. When you have been there for more than three months you recieve a slight raise but it is hardly enough.

    Advice to Management

I wish that you could may the pto system run more smoothly so that you can actually plan a vacation. I alos wish that the company could over more compensation to it's employees in all levels.

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

    - Full of young people either in or just out of college
    - Plenty of games/contests for motivation
    - Good benefit/retirement packages
    - Lot's of outside the office happy hours and parties
    - 28 days of paid time off plus bank holidays

    Cons

    - The most micro-managed organization I've ever been a part of
    - Paid time off is plentiful, but is determined by performance and service level so you can't plan a vacation a few months out because you might not get approved
    - Goes back on views of leading American's Back to Savings by offering easy access Checking Accounts and SA's dont make it crystal clear that a credit check is required to have the account
    - An absurd amount of metrics that you are measured on to determine your success
    - The CEO is only around when the cameras are rolling or the newspapers are there
    - They make it seem like it can be your "First Real Job" out of school, but it isn't true you'll be there getting screamed at by irate customers and old people for about 100 calls a day
    - You can't take too many phone calls or it will ruin some of the metrics by which you are measured
    - Make you think that you're getting "promoted" very quickly, but the initial promotion is after a month regardless of performance and is just to promote morale and then you must be in the next position for 9 months before you can move up or switch departments
    - Almost impossible to go to a different department unless you are bad at Sales.

    Advice to Management

Never in my 5 years of professional experience (at other retail banks and other industries) have I seen such absurd micro-management. The metrics that you measure the Promoters on is ridiculous. There needs to be a new paid time off system put into place it is impossible to plan a vacation and its crazy that your time off is partially determined by your ranking.
