Pros

Good pay, retirement benefits good, medical and dental leave something to be desired. Work isn't too labor intensive and job training has improved.

Cons

Medical and dental are on the more meager end of the spectrum compared to industry standards. Also individual versus group performance pay creates a back stabbing environment.

Advice to Management

don't play favorites as much. More fairness would be welcome. No clear direction on what it takes to be a top tier operator.

    Pros

Very helpful coworkers who welcome new people, especially those who are inexperienced. Pay is pretty decent and there the company puts a good effort towards creating proper work/life balance for employees.

    Cons

Company takes their privately owned status very seriously so you don't have as much access to all of the information that you would for a public company.

    Advice to Management

Continue hiring more young employees to bring more diversity in age and perspective to the company. A diverse company culture is extremely important.

Know what you're signing up for, and try to get a severance package written into your contract - you might need it

    Pros

Invista is a combination of traditional manufacturing and commodity products, and high-value-add branding of specialty products. It has global operations and is owned by Koch Industries, one of the biggest privately owned companies in the world. Senior management has many options for moving into other Koch companies.

    Cons

Invista was formerly part of DuPont, a very old-school, relationship-based company, and was bought by Koch Industries, a very market-driven one that views employment purely as a contract for services. As would be expected, there was huge 'culture shock' on both sides. Many existing employees were not who Koch would have chosen and the old timers certainly would not have sought out to work for Koch. Makes for a lot of conflict and unhappy campers.

    Advice to Management

Get some 'ears on the ground' and find out what the lower levels are buzzing about. Low morale is really bad for productivity - and profits.
