I have been working at IPA Family as a contractor (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Training(weekly webinars/sales calls, leadership support and guidance). Not a suit and tie environment all of the time. Only during certain events/meetings. Most times a polo/dress slacks is worn. Lax environment/friendly. For those that are extroverts you will thrive here as long as you stay active and make your designated amount of appointments for the week. You will get out of it what you put into it. You have support from company leadership but success in this business depends on you.

    Cons

Not a job for for hardship cases. if you absolutely need a steady paycheck then I recommend you go elsewhere and get a job that pays you by the hour or salary if you can and not by commission only. In this arena you have to pay out of pocket towards your education licensing, fingerprints then you get reimbursed. If you have the knack for sales and can sell ice to an eskimo then you may do well from the get go. However, if you are an introvert/shy and have difficulty in talking to strangers/group of people then you may have a period of no pay because you have to produce in order to get paid. You may go a week or two with twenty appointments, spend over $60 in gas in traveling to all of your appointments and not make a sale. Of course the opposite is true as well, its all in the amount of effort you put in towards your training, presentation of yourself and product. During the interview it is best that you are honest/upfront about your situation and demand the same honesty from the people that interview you. If they cannot meet your needs than it is best for both parties to part ways on good terms and not wait until you have vested time, effort, resources only to find out this career was not a good fit for you. Word to the wise, be thorough in your research, come prepared to an interview with written questions if needed to ensure you know what you are committing your valuable time to.
