IRS – “If you sincerely believe that tax laws should be administered fairly, do not work for the IRS.”

WorK Life balance - protections of the Civil Service System, Thrift Savings Plan, Medical Benefits (not Dental), Vacation & sick days. Benefits are very generous compared to those offered in private industry.
Cons
At the leadership level - a highly politicized and thereby hypocritical, risk averse leadership culture. This culture filters down through the many unnecessary layers of incompetent management and results in the "appearance" of meeting the mission without in substance doing so. Effectively, examinations (a euphemism for audits) of taxpayers are biased. The more wealthy and politically powerful corporations receive less stringent audits than poor and working class individuals.
Advice to Senior Management
1) Revoke the current Tax Accrual Workpaper policy. Remove all constraints currently in place that limit examiners' ability to access and review these key tax documents.
2) Remove layers of middle management personnel and bloated "support" functions that burden technical employees with data input tasks.
3) Require that tax technical knowledge be the primary requirement for any managerial position that involves oversight of Agents.
