Pros

Helping people make life changing decisions to get a technical education that will open opportunities in careers of interest to the students is by far the best part of this job. There is good support from middle management to help employees make improvement in key areas. The prospect tracking system keeps track of the key areas (contacts, scheduled appts, interviews, applications, financial aid completed, actual sit-in-class students) so, you can know what to work on. New class starts every 3 months means the recruiters are constantly getting feedback and improving their work. Has a decent benefits package with health, dental, vision, 401K, etc.

Cons

ITT uses a 3 tier system for leads with the top tier leads going to the most effective recruiters. This creates animosity between the "haves" and the "have nots" that is not good for the team. The "have nots" are reduced to trying to get prospects to come for visits when those prospects have no desire. This means lots of phone calls and more frustration. Another downside is the inability to get promoted after being on the job a certain period of time. Because of industry abuses (not ITT) in the past, there are no commissioned education recruiters. This means regardless of how hard you work you cannot make extra money. Even for the those who make it to work in the top tier leads, if they don't maintain their numbers they can be demoted. Promotions occur on a 1 year basis based on one's performance over the entire year.

Advice to Management

Change the tier system to give the non-tier 1 people more of an opportunity to work with quality leads and change the promotion system to make it easier to get promoted. Even a small promotion in a shorter (than 1 year!) time would inspire people to stay with the company longer.

    Pros

Employees seem to care about the students and their futures. Co workers are easy to get along with. Some training opportunities.

    Cons

Management is very secretive. Opportunity for advancment is non-existant except if you are friends with upper management. Campus Directors freightened of corporate and are afraid to make decisions based off of what is best for students.

    Advice to Management

Remember that this is a school and the main function should be giving the students the best education possible. Allow the Campus Directors the freedom to make decisions in the best interest of the students without fear of retribution from corporate.

Great at the campus level; higher-ups at corporate have no soul.

    Pros

Great "family" atmosphere at the campus level. My campus has some of the most supportive and awesome people with whom I've ever worked. Fair to good compensation; sense of accomplishment when helping students.

    Cons

Top management at corporate micro-manages to the point that it strangles one's creativity and abilities to perform his/her jobs. Some feelings of guilt in regard to some (but definitely not all) of the programs offered in terms of employability.

    Advice to Management

Stop micro-managing! Get a soul. Give your local campuses more control and autonomy; what is appropriate for Atlanta, Georgia may not work in one of the Northern states, etc.
