Pros

They pay really well to treat you like garbage and have the opportunity to walk all over you.

Cons

Your job as an "admissions rep" consists mostly of calling prospective students 3-5 times a day. Most of the time you get hung up on and swore at and then you are still required to call these people until they request their number be removed. If you are lucky enough to schedule an interview, most students are turned off by the $45k tuition for an associates. All the while upper management is constantly threatening to fire you while doing nothing constructive to help you.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop treating your employees like dispensable items. Stop micro-managing. Start being positive, it may create a more productive environment. Make yourself more available for questions and assistance (an ACTUAL open-door policy). Start being more open-minded to the fact that your employees work very hard and it might be the economy and cost of tuition that is causing lower enrollment.

I worked at ITT Technical Institute as a contractor (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Department chairs give adjunct instructors plenty of flexibility on how to teach materials to students. Materials are provided, including access to several types of media.

    Cons

Students do not take an entrance exam so their abilities vary (a few couldn't write). Also, several were there just there to use their financial aid and had no interest in the program. Others (in talking about criminal justice program) had prior convictions which would preclude them from employment in the career field.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to provide flexibility and support the instructors when student/teacher issues arise.

I have been working at ITT Technical Institute full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

It's rewarding to give individuals the chance to achieve their educational and career goals.

    Cons

As a Rep, most all your time is spent on the phone, calling to set appointments. So there's not much variety in your day. It does become boring and frustrating when after 100 dials, you may have only reached a handful of people.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Spend more resources on retention strategies. Attracting new students is not the only way to make money.
