Pros

Idaho Power is a great, solid company, and a stable place to work.

Cons

Very tough to advance. Direct managers seem to be poor at communicating. Projects don't necessarily consider all the important stakeholders, or end-user's needs.

Advice to Management

Listen to the little people.

    Pros

Participation in Regional forums. Company invests in its infrastructure = a lot of planning work. Quality employees and teamwork. Good morale.

    Cons

Exec Management appears to have different goals and objectives at times. Communication to rank-and-file could be better.

    Pros

    - Stability for most positions
    - Great work life balance and working hours
    - Compensation is close to market for many positions
    - Many great and talented people who are enjoyable to work with

    Cons

    - The same great and talented people are being psychologically beat to a pulp by incompetent managers
    - Always being treated like a 10 year old
    - Micro management at every level
    - HR is feared and has too much power
    - Limited career opportunities unless you say "yes" to everything
    - Company does not value skill and education

    Advice to Management

Please pay attention to the games your middle managers are playing with HR and people's careers. Some of your best and brightest people are being chased out of the company while the trouble makers remain and perpetuate their games. It's easy to keep the lights on today, but what happens when your stakeholders change and your business environment changes? You're going to need those skilled people you chased away.
