I have been working at Illinois State part-time

Pros

great benefits. great hours with weekends off. am able to get classes for free. I enjoy the people i work with and being among a young crowd.

Cons

the work is not challenging, no where to move up into, very political. Every promotion or raise is based on schooling and not performance.

It's an ok part time job, food service. Student managers are on a power trip though.

I have been working at Illinois State part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Great benefits compared to most employment opportunities.
Most people you work with are great, and because the teams are usually small, you get very close.

    Cons

In turn for great benefits, pay is usually less than the average for that job.
IT Management is poor at making decisions for the long term, and thus have caused many developers to seek employment elsewhere.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Not everyone that is a great employee will be a great manager. A manager, however, should have experience in the job they are managing.
