I have been working at Illinois Tool Works full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Great Benefits except for no stock options. Great sales force and customer service reps.

Cons

Corporate Paslode upper management has no respect for sales force. They are very disconnected from customers and market. Completely priced out of the market, but yet still ask why we are losing market share. Really?? When prices are double the competition to the end user it makes it very difficult and very frustrating!!! Upper Management very degrading and unmotivating toward sales force

I worked at Illinois Tool Works full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good financial business practice. Good business philosophies. Healthy focus on profitability.

    Cons

Slow and difficult decision making process. The company runs very lean, and most people are expected to do two people's jobs. Weak culture. Not a motivating place to work.

    Advice to Management

Focus on developing a real culture rather than individual cultures in each BU. Focus on motivating people rather than constantly cutting costs.
