    Pros

Great newspaper titles that are leaders in their cities. Usually pay well. Nice benefits and pretty easy going atmosphere. The company is really trying to make an effort to be more than a newspaper company.

    Cons

Too much of an "old girls club" going on which is a change but the results are the same. Ineffective publishers and general managers are given free reign with little to no checks or balances. All the papers show double digit revenue declines. Accounts and sales organization changes day to day at the whim of whomever is in charge. Too many repeat failures in management who are never held accountable for their performance, decisions or revenue. Not much of a belief in sales given that it is a sales organization. Sales reps and managers are routinely layed off to make IBIDTA . Online is a mess, they are trying but really have no chance of being anything but a very minor player. Lot's of positive, proud talk but at the end of the day the results are still downward trending.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you want to stem the negative flow, you have to hire, appreciate and keep good people and stop propping up the bad ones. Make the publishers and GM's more accountable for their decisions so the papers can stop being their personal. Be committed more to sales as the avenue to make money and less to writing, content, etc.
