Current Contractor - Insurance Agent in Dallas, TX
Current Contractor - Insurance Agent in Dallas, TX

I have been working at Independent Producers of America as a contractor (more than a year)

Pros

You set your own schedule, but if you are not putting in 8-10 hrs / day (during first 2-3 years)... you will fail.

Cons

IPA is not competitive with the online teaser rates offered by competitors. IPA becomes competitive after two consequtive years of 10-20% rates hikes from competitors to overcome those loss leader teaser rates. that

    Pros

Very flexible work schedule, conduct thorough training to ensure you are up to speed on products, obtain Health and Life Insurance licenses..

    Cons

Independent agent, Commission only sales, no health or life insurance sales=no pay, agent pays all own fees, many local networking avenues already taken by senior agents, only get to manager with high sales, assumes a good salesperson makes a good manager, health insurance product pricing not very competitive after a couple of years.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

High enthusiasm makes for a good positive environment but can come across as phony and non-genuine at times too.

    Pros

There are no pros for this company

    Cons

They Lie about everything. The "Leads" that they provide are a joke. You're better off calling out of the phone book. I only knew one person in the 3 years I was there that was successful and she had a marketing budget of $3000/mo!! That was in the whole company! The only people that make out id the ownership group.
