I worked at Indiana State Department of Health full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Good retirement package, good paid leave package, adequate health insurance.

    Cons

The agency attempts to regulate institutions which are some of the most powerful in the state, while receiving minimal backing from political managers. No raises, minimal opportunities for advancement.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Decide if you are actually a regulator or a rubber stamp for the hospital and long-term (nursing home) industry. Do you care more about the health and safety of the public or the health and safety of the institutions' profit and loss statements.
