Pros

Indigo's a leading brand in Canada for books and leisure products. Heather Reisman is a visionary CEO from whom you can learn a lot if you know how to listen to her.

Cons

There's a certain amount of conservatism about the book business. And there's excessively uniform reverence for category managers, whose expertise varies widely, though all are treated as the last word on the content of their categories.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

95% of the organization is clearly a meritocracy. Look at the last 5% and close that gap.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

To be truly successful you have to spend money on the staff, more staff, more management. These will truly increase sales and pay for themselves in the long haul.
