Pros

Excellent benefits and the appearance of mobility within the company. Other departments seemed to be quite satisfied with their work and their managers.

Cons

Direct management (up to the Director level) juvenile and vindictive. Your Linked In, Facebook and other social media accounts are monitored. Management claims you can easily transfer between departments then blocks those attempts.

Advice to Management

Informatica does many, many things well. Why the reports from their HR manager are ignored is strange to me. Upper management would do well to question a little closer the methods of middle and lower management.

Thank you for taking the time to share your comments with us. Informatica does have a formal social media policy and, whilst we clearly do not actively monitor employee's social media feeds, we do ... More

    Pros

Great products and even better people
Company vision is clear and demonstrative
High demand solutions that have and will weather many economic cycles

    Cons

Sr. Leadership changes have created a more fearful environment
Good people have left voluntarily at an alarming rate

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to turnover. Informatica is a fantastic company, but can't remain so unless those that got it there remain engaged and committed.

    Pros

    - Real grip on data integration
    - Great R&D Talent
    - Relentless focus to winning
    - Strong player in Data Quality
    - Real "science driven" approach to solutions

    Cons

    - Decisions took a long time to be made
    - Has a "bad carbon copy" feel to Oracle. Oracle is changing fast, not afraid of failure, whereas Informatica does fear failure and will turn left and right than deal with the real problems it has
    - Company struggles between the lure of on premise but the need for cloud. Two competing business models do not work
    - Company has hired a great marketing team that is perhaps ahead of rest of company, not sure if rest of company can catch up

    Advice to Management

Focus on whether it's the big million dollar deals of on premise that will lead this company to the future or is it the cloud, which will be a more costly (profit wise) venture? Doing both is very difficult and not scale-able. Lack of focus and precision has led to big hiring and big spending with minimal result. It's time to fight hard or not fight at all.
