I have been working at Informatica full-time (less than a year)

Pros

Good work life balance, helpful colleagues and work culture

Cons

less use of new upcoming technology or open source, less focus on R&D, much of maintenance work

Advice to ManagementAdvice

should have more perks, should consider giving training to new employees since its difficult to imagine different use-cases, the product tackles, especially in case of enterprise product

Former Employee - Professional Services Consultant

I worked at Informatica full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

As a consultant working for the company that makes the software (Informatica software), the clients give you more respect than consultants working from other firms
You have all the top-notch learning tools at your disposal, along with access to very experienced professionals

    Cons

    - Extremely high expectations from Clients, since you are working for the company that makes the software
    - The professional services (consulting) team wasn't that big at the time I worked there, so in any client engagement, you are probably only one of two or at most three people from Informatica - you don't really get to know your coworkers well, except for training classes or conventions

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Organize more internal employee engagement, get-to-know-your-coworkers activities to bring all employees of the consulting team together (from around the country). We have to ask each other questions via email a lot, and yet we do not know each other in person. It can get awkward.

Former Employee - Marketing Manager in Redwood City, CA

I worked at Informatica full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Good benefits - 401(k), medical, dental, vision, etc.
    Great co-workers.
    Ability to work from home.
Nice new office in Redwood City.

    Cons

Marketing upper management laid people off then immediately backfilled those positions (illegal?) which created a sense of mistrust and unease. People were eager to throw each other under the bus, but very slow to make decisions in fear that they would misstep. People worked themselves to the bone running in circles for upper management - no work/life balance. Low productivity and morale.
