Pros – It an interesting environment to work and provides a good growth path for people with an engineering focus or aptitude. The company is very supportive of staff development and invests heavily in product development as well. The company has some great staff, both at headquarters, and scattered throughout the continental US and abroad. Having the opportunity to work with some of our international partners has been particularly rewarding. Finally I would have to say that anyone considering a position with Thermo King could do a lot worse if you are interested in working within a very engineering driven organization. T
Cons – Long hours are part of the culture and there is a fantastical expectation that work comes first. While there have been some attempts at creating a work life balance, overall the company does demand a great deal from its employees. Having working in a number of other organizations, both directly and in a consulting capacity, I can really fault Thermo King for the overall culture. The company may stifle some creative avenues in product development (but this can be largely overcome by some internal networking and marketing prior to pitching your dev. idea.).
