Pros

Was a good place to start a career. Good hands on experience in a factory environment. Nice people working there besides management.

Cons

Management is terrible and there is no room for career advancement. All of the senior employees are/will be retiring soon and new people are not staying too long with the company.

    I worked at Ingersoll Rand

    Pros

Fast paced business, worked with some really smart engineers, support from the local level was OK. Benefits and pay were around the industry average. Some get more than others.

    Cons

Support from anything beyond the local level was tough to get. Some loacl technicians were willing to help you out, some wouldn't. Sometimes you can't find management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Find a way to support the field people like they used to. Cuts in the factories and the support groups has made it difficult.

    Pros

    Close to home.
Tyler is a great city and East Texas is the best place to live in the USA!
    Comparable pay and benefits.
    Great people to work with.

    Cons

Engineering is an after thought. No leadership direction with regards to controls or electronics. Inexperienced leaders that have little to no concept of how to develop and launch a new product or sustain the ones that are in the field.

    No structure.
No infrastructure to support engineering. Leaders are not aware of what is needed.
    No sense of QUALITY.

Poor work atmosphere, low morale and poor culture in general.

No real opportunity for career growth for an engineer. No technical development. No real design work. The company is more interested in buying components, marking up and re-selling.

Must follow the "Good Ole Boy" network in order to get anything done, then it's still a struggle.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop painting the walls, putting leather chairs in the hallways, setting up video game contests and do something real to make this a better place to work. A nice facade does not replace the need for genuine career opportunities and the tools required to develop and launch quality products.

    Adopt a quality process.

fa·cade, [fuh-sahd, fa-] a superficial appearance or illusion of something: They managed somehow to maintain a facade of wealth and happiness.
