Approves of CEO

Pros

1. High average tenure of associates, promotes from within (at the mid/senior level) 2. Collegial atmosphere 3. Being the largest in any vertical commands respect 4. Takes some risk, allows fresh ideas (to some extent), not completely risk averse

Cons

1. Incompetent IS (IT) organization 2. Extremely low margin business, cost control is a must 3. Red tape, unnecessarily processes

Advice to Management

Fix the IS organization. World's largest IT distributor deserves a better IT orgranization. Invest in high margin adjacencies, make the organization more metric-driven. Focus on a better value proposition (after all IM is not just box pushers) that utlimately deserves higher margin.

    Approves of CEO

    Pros

Opportunity to be exposed to business practices all over the world and learn. Although it is a high revenue company it operates as a mid-size public co so some of the approval layers have been removed. People are very financially capable and knowledgeable.

    Cons

There are more approval layers/requirements than in smaller companies or non-publically traded companies so if you are coming from that perspective it could be frustrating to go through the approval process.

It's a paycheck, but not a great place to work.

    Approves of CEO

    Pros

Executive management is friendly and relatively accessible. Compensation and benefits are reasonable, but not exceptional. Depending on company performance, bonuses can be quite generous.

    Cons

The executive management team is not always aligned in its goals which makes it difficult to meet expectations. With few exceptions, mediocre middle/senior management leadership. Company lacks the resources and/or commitment to management accountability and development. Productivity is hampered by information services support (or lack there of), not enhanced.

    Advice to Management

Take more calculated risk. In recent years, the competition has excelled while Ingram Micro lags. Be more strategic and visionary vs. tactical and reactive.
