Pros

They are very flexible with your schedule. They have some degree of employee empowerment because they allow you to manage yourself for the most part.

Cons

Since this is a privately owned company and the owner is still very active in the company, the growth opportunities are limited. Nearly everyone who is in executive level management has been with the company almost since its creation. Some of the general managers have only been there for 6-8 years. In addition, their system is very outdated and uses numbers (green screen AS400) to access it. They do not have a continuous improvement process in place.

Advice to Management

Update. Update. Update. There needs to be some channels for progression through the ranks. In addtion, the systems need to be updated and there needs to be more than one HR person and more than 3 IT persons for all of the subsidaries.

    Pros

    Fresh food at your fingertips.

    Cons

Salary, company culture, lack of management, cut throat competition within the office environment, management favors their friends and are obvious about it, PTO is earned yet strongly discouraged against using unless you are considered a senior level employee, and the office politics are always out to bite you at IS.

    Advice to Management

Hold each other accountable for being professional and treating others, the employees, fairly. Also, the more you appreciate your employees, the more they will want to work harder and therefore everyone wins. Encouragement and support would go a long, long way as it does not exist.
