I have been working at Innovative Solutions & Support

Pros

In a small organization like this you get a lot of exposure to the management team and they know what everyone is working on. It's rewarding because what you accomplish is recognized and you're given more.

Cons

IS&S right now has limited resources and sometimes moves us around between the different projects. The changes frustrate some people. I've seen a lot of interviews going on so hopefully we'll get back to being assigned resources.

    Pros

    Co-workers were a great group of people. Middle management is full of knowledge and easy to work with.

    Cons

    Priorities change on a daily, if not hourly basis. Every project needs to be done yesterday, and a 60+ hour week is a normal week. Employees have been threatened to meet deadlines, or be laid off, just to work 80 hour weeks to meet them and be laid off anyway. I'm not sure you'll find a more disorganized environment out there.

    How long before people realize its not poor employees, its poor upper management?

    Great potential, but run by out-of-touch executive management. Projects are always behind and management never listens.

    Pros

    Type of work was rewarding.
    Veteran employees know their stuff.
    The friendships I made.

    Cons

    Poor work-life balance.
    Little to no raises.
    No growth opportunities.
    Projects are always behind and management never learns from past mistakes.
    Reactionary, not proactive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Listen to the people that do the work. They may know a thing or two. And don't make promises to customers that you can't keep.
