Pros

- Work/life balance
- Diverse product lines
- Quality products
- Nice people

Cons

The management philosophy, particularly with lower level employees, is to "burn and turn". Meaning they are not inclined to promote from within at all. They'll pay an Associate Product Manager $40K for 2 years until they leave and then bring in someone new at the same salary, rather than promote that person and increase their salary.. This is done to keep costs low and profits as high as possible for the shareholders. It makes the company's finances look good on paper, but it creates a toxic environment to work in.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Occasionally reward high performing employees so that others are at least somewhat motivated.

The only thing innovative is the Lactation Room.

    I worked at Integra LifeSciences

    Pros

    Free Bagels and Coffee.
    An onsite gym and showers.
    Lactation Room
4000 a year in tuition reimbursement.
Free downloading and open use of internet.
You know you won't get in trouble for Social Networking because the CFO and half the Director levels post Facebook updates during working hours all the time.
    Cool Products.

    Cons

Impressive degrees or frequent use of buzzwords far out weigh any common sense or innovative thinking at this company.
Management is a disgrace. There is common practice to pretend they knew nothing of any negative situation and use their employees as scapegoats with their superiors.
HR is so incompetent that they keep resumes on the common drive and have released files of high level employees salary information on the Internal Sharepoint site, which customer service got hold of and sent all over the company.
More than once I have witnessed my colleagues get promoted and then months later, HR comes to them and informs them that they can no longer have that title because they don't make enough money to be in that management bracket.
Which leads to another thing-- no promotions unless you are in the good ole boys club.
Management lets key positions work alone and then runs in a panic when they leave and things are no longer functional.
I had 5 managers in the past two years and the latest one actually told me his goal is to put in his 3 years, achievements didn't matter as long as he talked a good game an then jump to a higher salary outside Integra. That didn't leave me with much motivation.
Expense system has employees cutting personal checks to Integra.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Nothing.
Although maybe a new CEO that won't insist on assigning everyone's seat.

I have been working at Integra LifeSciences

    Pros

The products do make a difference in the world
Hearing the feedback on how the product has sustained life is so gratifying
The opportunity to work with very intellegent people

    Cons

The work enviroment is not friendly
Management delegates all their work to their reports
Upper Management does not value those who truley work hard just their select few
    Pay is not that great
    Poor training if any
One person sours the whole work enviroment

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Appreciate your staff and not just with words but with actions
HR step up and get out of your office and stop telling the staff what they want to hear make that change. Maybe if you did then you wouldn't loose such great people. The loss of your most recent resignation (director of ops) speaks volumes about your site.
