Current Employee - Sales Representative
Current Employee - Sales Representative

I have been working at Integra LifeSciences full-time for more than 3 years

Pros

Ability to enter into most hospitals because of the GPO contracts. This will allow you to build relationships.

Cons

Historical hospitals purchases with company and GPO contracts get door open but limited negotiating and backorders prevent sales growth and retard quota attainment. Quota system is not based on field reality - it seems that management does not care about employee longevity in how quotas are established.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Senior Management needs to get into the field beyond NY and Calif to learn what is going on in hospital environments regarding pricing, healthcare operating budgets, and the impact on equipment budgets because of hospital revenue declines due to health insurance changes and the economy . In addition, attempts by senior management at entering hospitals will provide insight about account access changes due to new vendor policies.

I worked at Integra LifeSciences full-time

    Pros

Working with people who care about products and patients.
    Making a difference with patients.
Being able to meet different challenges daily.

    Cons

Working with many groups that find saying "no" easier then actually doing what is needed.
No appreciation for going the extra mile.
Do your job and nothing more attitude.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get engaged with your customer facing employees. The lack of connection needs to be bridged to achieve what is required for customers and within the company.
Make sure that the core business programs are usable and not patchworks of inconsistency.
Providing a way for employees to improve and grow is much less expensive then the constant turnover and training staff that knows less and less about the products.

I worked at Integra LifeSciences full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Encouraged to think of your territory as your own franchise. You have to do so much yourself, without a ready support system, you actually learn alot.

    Cons

Management changes priorities at least twice a year and can't seem to decide which products in the Neuro division they want to focus on. Neuro marketing is practically non-existent and is a ridiculous joke. Turnover is high. Product prices are high and you are expected to sell the value on commodity products for dural repair.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quit squeezing your RBMs so hard and make it easier for Field sales to get things done at the company.
