I worked at Integra Telecom full-time (more than a year)

Pros

Technology. Lots of change. Manager was flexible and allowed me to make decisions.

Cons

Some people were stuck in their ways and would not adapt to changes. Movement up in the company was limited if you were not in the right track. If you really wanted to get a pay raise, the only way to go was to go into sales.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Offer true incentives to employees and allow them more autonomy in decision making. Sometimes decision making was so long and burdensome that it was difficult to help clients in a timely manner.

    Pros

    Flexible work environment, opportunity to contribute significantly, changing executive landscape provides hope for improved organization and focus.

    Cons

    Silo'd departments with minimal big picture focus.Lack of company wide mission or shared goals. Feels as if the ompany has grown at a faster pace (acquisitions) than its management skills, processes, and systems can scale. While significant transition in executive staff has created turmoil and instability; there is a glimmer of hope that the new attitude and increased expectations might just turn this company around.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Circle the team! Clearly define company wide goals and focus - then communicate, communicate, communicate! Teach and model SMART goals and follow through with holding middle management accountable. Implement data driven decisions. Increase employee basic skill ( problem solving, computer skills) through systematic company wide training and education.

    PTO and paid holidays; work hard and it can pay off.

    Cons

    Many many management and organizational restructures in a small time (2 years).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Too many closed doors. When employees walk around the office, most managers doors are closed much of the time.
