Former Employee - Intern  in  Chandler, AZ
Former Employee - Intern in Chandler, AZ

Pros

Interns are treated like regular employees. Lots of great projects to choose from, and opportunity to drive and own some pretty interesting segments.

Cons

None that I could think of, perhaps the fact that campuses are located far apart. However, relocation money is provided.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep making the intern program so much fun! Loved the intern activities and chances to get to know upper management.

Current Employee - Senior Process Engineer in Portland, OR

    Pros

Intel's Fabs are the best in class. There is a great and fast learning experience.

    Cons

RCG's -recent college graduates have way higher salaries most engineers.
    Grading&Ranking system
Focal-performance review can get you fired...or below expectation...
24/7 oncall work including nights&weekends without pay
    No work life balance.
Turn over rate in Hillsboro Fabs is extremely high. Group Leaders and Area Managers and leaving the company as well.
Hillsboro Fab hires mostly RCG's on H1B visa from India as Fab Managers are from India too. They will be stuck here for 5-6 years until get greencard.

Current Employee - Senior Component Design Engineer  in  Portland, OR
Current Employee - Senior Component Design Engineer in Portland, OR

    Pros

If you are a hardware engineer, you would love it because you could be designing one of the most complex things in the world. Job stability is something that you would like.

    Cons

Based on which group you work on your stress level will vary. Could be very bad. Salary is not the best. You can easily find someone beating the intel salary if you are good engineer.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Intel always seems to make everyone happy independent whether the group makes money or loses money. This caues that people who work hard and deliver products in time to make money for intel to be treated on par with people who dont make money for intel. When it omes to performance reviews and pay structures, I feel that the work stress and contributios of key groups are not reflected in the pay accordingly.
