I have been working at Intel Corporation

Pros

It is a large company with many opportunities. In addition, Intel encourages people to try new things and expand their skills into different areas. For a technology company, it is quite stable and works to ensure employees have interesting and challenging jobs. One nice thing about working for Intel is that you can manage large projects or teams that you might never get a chance to do at many other companies. You also have a degree of freedom in putting your ideas into action, although justifying the cost and wading through the red-tape is getting more and more difficult. Overall, I like working here and find it enjoyable and interesting.

Cons

Like any large company, it can be bureacratic and relatively slow to react. Even though Intel provides stock options, they are worth far less than in the past. Back in the 1990's even as an individual contributor, you could reasonably expect to retire a millionaire, but those days are long gone. Intel can be a difficult place to work if you are not highly motivated. Most managers here will not closely manage you and you are often left on your own to make important decisions. This is not always a downside, but can be for those people who need lots of direct, regular manager interface.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't be so reactionary to changes in market conditions. Just make a plan and stick to it.

Intel is a fantastic place to have a stable, rewarding career, but you most likely will not get rich.

I have been working at Intel Corporation

    Pros

Intel is an international, stable, high tech company that is changing the world by designing and manufacturing the most complex, powerful computer chips in history. Intel offers many opportunities to learn, grow and travel and is full of talented, dedicated, hard-working employees. In this time of economic uncertainty, worldwide recession etc, it's wonderful to be at a company like Intel.

    Cons

The company, while being a technology leader, is narrowly focused on the microprocessor and PC business, where growth is slowing. Forays into other technology businesses (commmunications chips, flash memory, networking etc) have been largely unsuccessful. As a result, Intel's stock is ragebound - floating between low teens to upper 20s in the last few years. So you won't get rich working at Intel unless you work your way up the ranks, but you can have a stable, rewarding career nonetheless.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on keeping the microprocessor relevant, simplify branding, and identify the next growth accelerators beyond just the microprocessor.
