Intel Corporation – “Intel jumped the shark.”
5 of 5 people found this helpfulPros
Good work/life balance. You don't have to work 80 hours/week.
There are almost always clear, well articulated objectives.
Each person is reviewed based on their own individual performance.
Very disciplined work environment.
Cons
Dinosaur economics. Chip manufacturing used to be a growth industry, and it isn't anymore. So, there is little opportunity for career advancement unless someone up the ladder drops dead or retires.
Pay is at best "poor" compared to the alternatives out there
It is no longer a fun place to work.
Intel is run as if it were a $40 BILLION small family business. Only the opinions of a handful of top execs, all of whom have worked together for 30 years, really matter. Everyone else is just a supplier of data.
Advice to Senior Management
Recognize the competition for talent is not the chip company down the street but rather the consulting companies and investment banks. Intel needs to pay more.
