Pros

* Quarterly/social/celebration events, free fruit and drinks.
* Decent bonus and 401(k) contribution when the company is performing well.
* Good work/life balance and advancement opportunities (at least in tech track) if you have a good manager.

Cons

Like most other large companies,
* Different groups will have vastly different work experiences.
* Bad/indifferent managers can make life miserable and are very difficult to get rid of.
* Compensation goes down when corporate profits go down.
* Politics, especially between geos, slows down engineering work.

I have been working at Intel Corporation

    Pros

Great pay & benefits, including profit sharing, health care, schedule flexibility (when the job type permits), fitness centers & on-site cafeterias (at larger site lcoations), encouragement to participate in community volunteerism. Support of professional & technical training. Company culture is founded on six primary values.

    Cons

Recent management loss of focus on core values, decisions to co-locate employees and move work to lower-cost markets is affecting employment within the US and more mature European markets. Current emphasis is on expanding markets & gaining market share.

    Advice to Management

Efforts to co-locate employees may cause a brain-drain, resulting in many months of lost productivity. You are doomed to repeat the past if you don't learn from it.

    Pros

    Reactive mindset
    Micromanagement is not common
    Decent pay
    Opportunity to learn

    Cons

Tech leaders are very territorial and exclusionary
Red tape and cronyism stifles patents and innovation
Lots of committees routinely slow down ideas and initiatives
Middle management is all about status-quo, rewards those who don't rock the boat
    Bad behaviors go unpunished

    Advice to Management

Make processes transparent. Get rid of an excess of "need to know basis"
Apply feedback from lower rungs in annual reviews of higher rungs
Foster innovation by removing hurdles to new ideas.
Intel needs energy, optimism, and much less random paranoia
