Former Employee - Design Engineer in Hillsboro, OR

I worked at Intel Corporation as a contractor for more than 10 years

Pros

Overall is pretty effective for Intel's size.
For most positions, meritocracy prevails.
Encourage and facilitate employees to transfer.
Decent compensation.
Every employee is in a cubicle, no office even for CEO.

Cons

Very intensive and not for faint of heart.
For some groups, bureaucracy of large company is visible.
Capital allocation ability of top management appears to be sub-par, this has lead Intel to be stuck with limited products and markets.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Encourage designers to think more innovative instead of following check list.

Recommends
Neutral Outlook
Approves of CEO

Former Employee - Manufacturing Technician in Chandler, AZ

I worked at Intel Corporation full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Pay is better than it first appears.

    Cons

Micromanaged, too many middle managers, poor morale, sweat shop but they tell you it isn't, try to manipulate people's lifestyles...once you get into an organization they do not let you out unless medically required. Require you to "flex" your hours instead of paying overtime on days off for cost savings.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of 80% middle layers of management.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
