Great Place to Work!

Individual Contributor (Former Employee) Chandler, AZ

ProsIntel does an excellent job of providing opportunities for employees to advance their careers, as well as participate in community events in cities where Intel is located worldwide. The time and energy Intel spends on its employees in making a meaningful career path achievable is second to none. The saying "You Own Your Career" is very true - you have the ability to make it what you want and go as far or as long as you want.

ConsAs Intel has grown over the years working effectively in the "big machine" has become more challenging. With any large company, bureaucracy is its own worst enemy and although Intel has acknowledged this the ability to react (real-time) to changing market conditions is hampering it's market position. To quote Steve Jobs, "Working with Intel is like working with a steam ship - not too flexible." Also, base pay is below market average. In recent years Intel has been attempting to reduce its average labor cost (ALC) but not promoting great people who really deserve it is a short sighted MO that, with accelerated turnover, will cost more in the long run. Total Compensation (T-Comp) has not kept up.

Advice to Senior ManagementLook for ways to cut down on the big machine's noise, make straighter paths for people to get things done and pay market value to top performers.
