Pros

May get to work on cutting edge processor design. Intel brand name is known even among non-tech friends. Salary and benefits are middle of the road - used to have really good benefits with OK salary, but now both are mediocre.

Cons

Intel's ranking and rating annual review method means there is competition between engineers. And in a way that can bring out the worst in some.

Advice to Management

Brian K. appears to be sacrificing long term earnings (2015/2016 and beyond) in order to get a short term benefit to the earnings/stock.

    Pros

Great pay, time off, and health insurance

    Cons

Crappy schedules, a lot of technicians get stuck working nights 7pm-7am and cannot get off of them. You have to work weekends and holidays all of the time also. Lately raises have been very little or none at all. Biggest of all, you have to worry "will I have a job next year, or will I have to move to another state just to hopefully keep it if I am lucky?".

    Advice to Management

Make it easier to move from the technician role into other areas of the company besides supervisor or engineering. Support techs that want to move into other areas of the business like accounting, finance or HR. Make it more fair for everyone and rotate the night shift schedule between ALL employees. The 16% night shift differential is NOT anywhere near enough compensation for the sacrifice to your body and home life that working nights is!

  2. Crunch time schedules are killer, but great work environment and colleagues

    Pros

The people I work with are generally friendly, passionate, intelligent, and driven to succeed against all odds.

    Cons

Long hours dictated by tight schedules, especially during the days leading up to project tapeout. Easy to get lost in sea of employees in such a huge company.
