Good benefits but the work environment is toxic.

I worked at Intel Corporation full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Salary and benefits were excellent. Flexible work schedule is a definite plus. Company will provide training on the equipment and process by paying for vendor courses and the online training materials provide additional resource to get up to speed. Networking with other engineers can provide a great knowledge resource if they have the time to train and/or help you with a project.

    Cons

The higher the grade level, the expectations increase tremendously and if your manager does not have your back, you will be thrown under the bus. Culture of fear has resulted in bringing out the worst behavior in otherwise decent people. Cooperation between departments has degraded over time and folks are protective of their turf and will often beat down projects on the basis that they 'just don't like them'. Many co-workers are pitted against one another by their manager. Managers play favorites and are often technical folks that are incompetent when dealing with personnel matters.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There should be an open door policy to discuss roadblocks and issues with managers but being open and honest will often result in backlash in the future as the manager will use information against their own direct report. No incentive to innovate as the culture created by management is fear and reprisal should a project cause problems.
