Good place to work, provided you have the right job you want at the right place and team

Reliability Engineer (Former Employee)
Santa Clara, CA

I worked at Intel Corporation

ProsIt has a system that "works" -- politics is minimal, great management team with experience, get to stay at the forefront of technology, moving inside the organization allows for experiencing various roles within a large, mostly coherent and thriving corporation. Once one is in the right team (the definition of "right" would differ from person to person), it can be a great and satisfying place to work, and moving within teams facilitates that somewhat. However, the latter might also entail moving from one place to another. Their U.S. sites also seem to be located at some of the most geographically polarized regions, especially with regards to their climate.

ConsOwing to its size, growth opportunities can be limited -- and might take some "luck". Compensation is not the best in the industry, unless stability is counted in. Their package for compensation is changing over the years to more "cash based" and less retention (stock) oriented. Their recent primary problem seems to have been that a newer management team has to "correct" the problems of an older team, and that leads to layoffs and restructuring affecting the average worker's life. Some lack of accountability can probably be attributed to senior management for such issues. Even within a given management team, some of their investment decisions in new areas have proven to be unwise requiring considerable corrections (again affecting the ordinary worker) for fixing those.

Advice to Senior ManagementTake the best of your former legendary leaders (Noyce, Moore, Grove). Balance is the key.

Senior Engineer (Current Employee)
Colorado Springs, CO

I have been working at Intel Corporation

Pros: Intel provides good pay and benefits, the management is competent and collabarative. Intel continues to train their employees, job prospects after Intel… Cons: They are closing the Colorado Springs fab, which I believe is a bad decision and a huge hit… Advice to Senior Management: Building a fab in China? What are you thinking? Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend More
