Pros

The pay and benefits are very competitive, higher than similar uncleared positions in more expensive Denver.

Cons

Not enough investment in formal training. Only a few hot shots or executives ever get to go to conferences. There used to be "brown bag" presentations but those had attendance issues because some projects wouldn't allow an hour a week to be billed to those internal training.

Advice to Management

Invest in training. Send some developers to NFJS when it comes to Denver (it happens twice a year). Bring back brown bags, and end the billing sillyness with attendance.

    Pros

Some very good people work there and many became good friends. Many people are going great things and work very well with their customers.

    Cons

Management is clueless, arrogant, vindictive and misguided. Internal competition is rampant, the VPs fight with each other like children and management rarely listen to SMEs that have their ear to the ground.

    Advice to Management

Clean house. Many managers and directors need to go. Promote people that know what they are doing and are good with customers and listen to your people. VPs need a shake up.

    Pros

The benefits package is impressive. The work environment is casual, with t-shirts and jeans being the norm. Middle, and upper middle management is attainable, and those in these positions are typically very accessible, and often knowledgeable about the demands put upon those they supervise. Compensation is competitive, and often above the industry standard. This company want's to treat its employees right.

    Cons

Technological support within the company is poorly managed. Although compensation and benefits are top notch, financial management is often confusing and amateurish. There is verbal support for personal growth, but little in the way of resources. The customer base is too narrow, and the primary customer is not compatible other customer types. This has lead to a stagnation in the technology used, and this leads to technological employee skill stagnation.

    Advice to Management

Diversify customers. Analyze what the company does from an abstract standpoint, and streamline some new, very small, product offerings. Diversified customers and products will lead to diversified technology, which will lead to greater research, which will lead to innovation. Take a close look at top level financial management of the corporation.
