I worked at Interbrand full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    - Strong brand name, but attracts clients looking for safe and uninspiring work
    - Invented Brand Valuation, but like sausage, you don't want to see how it is made.
    - Global network, but offices are selfish so weak at global integration
    - Not a strong work ethic

    Cons

    - Greedy executives who spend a lot of time justifying their jobs instead of creating value
    - Extremely poor employee retention
    - Managing directors are not brand-experts, just office managers with no decision authority
    - Very weak design; commitment to design is all talk

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The company manages itself around 5 Ps: People, Products, Partners (clients), Positioning (brand) and Performance (profit). The CEO once said, of the 5 P's, positioning is the most important. I asked why not people. and he said, because people don't make the phone ring.

Stop saying that brands have the power to change the world, and actually do it.

I have been working at Interbrand full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Very strong talent in strategy, generally nice people.

    Cons

No real rewards for excellent performance. IB promotes people after they've been doing the job for 1+ year, so promotion time can be more resentful than satisfying.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More disciplined approach to promotions, raises, etc.
