As an 18-year employee, I'm disappointed with the direction the company is going.

    Pros

Values align with the community. Very skilled physicians who generally speaking, care very much about patients and the quality of care they receive. I'm thankful that Intermountain chooses to give cost of living increases each year.

    Cons

Big, bureaucratic and inflexible. The company does not espouse "out of the box" thinking or employees challenging the norm. Senior executives are out of touch with the front line and treat employees like they are unintelligent, mindless workers. Compliance and regulations are the top priority, not patients or families and certainly not employees. A significant amount of favoritism shown in promoting from within. The best thinkers and those who could make significant change in the company are not the senior leadership, but these individuals will never be heard or recognized.

    Advice to Management

LISTEN to patients and employees. You think you know what they want, but you continually miss the boat. Patients and their families' needs should drive every decision, not financials, not compliance, not policy, not job duties.

  2. Great! Pay isn't the best but the organization is well run.
