Former Employee - Middle Manager in Ogden, UT
Former Employee - Middle Manager in Ogden, UT

I worked at Intermountain Healthcare full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

Good benefits. Enough good employees to achieve success in spite of neurotic executive team.

Cons

Nilly willy senior leadership who focus on making a name for themselves without respect to employees. Middle managers chosen more for ability to toe the party line than for being top-notch.
Many recent corporate initiatives in revenue cycle, productivity improvement, and supply chain have been very poorly executed with bad results due to incompetent leadership mostly recruited from inside and staffed with insiders without specific experience. The organization could do much better that the VPs and AVPs attempting to lead these efforts.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Some personality disorders are uncurable. I don't think respect for employees will come about without a leadership change in Ogden. Get rid of widespread nepotism flowing down from the senior ranks.

I have been working at Intermountain Healthcare as a contractor (more than 10 years)

    Pros

nice hospitals, good nurses, extraordinary landscaping

    Cons

Corporate decisions are "always" driven by the bottom line $$$. Will cut corners on patient care if it saves them money, cuts liability, or increases control of the healthcare market.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Remember the early days when you were truly a charitable "not for profit" hospital organization.

I have been working at Intermountain Healthcare full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Benefits are top notch!
They are usually wiling to work around you (department dependant)
They are always looking to improve

    Cons

Not very competitive with their employee salaries and reward individuals for major achievements like a large cooperation instead of taking personal interest and invest

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest more in your IT departments to get caught up with the growing technologies for all areas of practice
