Magazine management means constant changes, with hardly any improvements for the actual employees.

Current Employee - Software Engineer in Reno, NV

I have been working at International Game Technology full-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

Can gain experience in your craft / skill(s). Lower management understands how their employees feel and do what they can to keep them happy.

Cons

Upper management will attempt to push out changes that will only affect the people at the lowest rungs, without first consulting them for their opinion on the matter.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop wasting money with all these attempts to boost morale with posters and so called "rewards". You want to truly reward the people working there, invest in the employees as a whole; whether that be through pay increases / promotions, employee events, or even putting pinball machines back in the break room(s).

Hear Its Tense Times at IGT

    Pros

like others say, the rank-n-file people are good for the most part. lots of great designers who are talented and passionate about making cool games. pay is good for low cost of living town like Reno.

    Cons

like others say, the odd propaganda, low morale, leadership, constant reorganizing, and finger pointing have this once leading company in a state of decline. the game studios have been a big mess for a few years. it would be good to have a gaming industry expert with an awesome track record in charge of that stuff. it takes too long for people from other industries to figure out the uniqueness of the business IGT is in. or i am totally off and the humans who run the place are as awesome as the birds nesting in the great tree just outside the great window of the great building near the great lake tahoe. perhaps reality will dawn in soon.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

communication is lacking at IGT. the leadership seems to lack the industry experience to know how to plug the ship's many holes. as the industry itself is transforming, bloated companies like IGT will continue to decline as tons of competitors pop up all over the world. the once significant barriers to entry have come down and IGT has been somewhat exposed. they can turn it around but it will require radically changing the core of the company, weeding out a lot of the deadweight and making a lot of tough decisions -- while smart, communicative, honest and transparent with the workforce.

Dreadful -- This Company Simply Doesn't Care (and it shows)

I have been working at International Game Technology full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

I am able to educate my peers and director, which teaches them how they should be conducting their jobs. Most do not know how to write a proper sentence.

    Cons

Absolutely dreadful workplace environment! The Company does not value employees and is terrible at evaluating talent. They simply do not care -- you are just a number at IGT -- there is no concern about employee morale, development or growth. The CEO just cares about her fancy airplane (which she forgets is the company's .. not her personal limousine). You can work here for years and years without ever seeing the CEO or most C-levels. They dont care about the workforce and are disinterested in the gambling industry (and decisions flow accordingly). Curmudgeons and dolts abound in my department unfortunately. I do not recommend this company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please eliminate the dolts and curmudgeons; learn to embrace your best employees and encourage personal development!
