I have been working at International Rescue Committee full-time (more than a year)

Pros

smart, dedicated and committed colleagues. Organization values accountability and measures impact. consistent emergency programming and interventions for international operations; focuses on advocacy and lessons learned.

Cons

little career growth because of the size of the organization, tends to be very competitive to be transferred to another department particularly withing international programs/ field posts. they prioritize internal candidates for all positions so hard for an external candidate to get their foot in the door.

I worked at International Rescue Committee

    Pros

The IRC is great for people into non-profits. The refugees are sweet and the office environment is good. Management tends to be flexible with time off.

    Cons

Horrible pay, constantly busy, too many interns without experience, poor inter office communications. There is not a good source of work-life balance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Definitely chill out the office a bit. There is no need to hire so many (unpaid) interns. Work on communications.
