Current Employee – been working at International Rescue Committee full-time for more than a year
Pros – -- Great mission
-- Money raised really goes to the people being served
-- Very talented, dedicated staff members
-- Staff is very aware of and dedicated to the mission
-- Good benefits
-- Generous sick time
Cons – -- Very top heavy organization with many directors, associate directors, deputy directors, etc.
-- Large salary gap between the higher ups and those lower down with little opportunity for middle ground
-- Very bureaucratic with many levels of to go through before things get done
-- Heavy reliance on consultants
-- Power struggles at the top
-- Little connection of HQ staff to the field.
Advice to Senior Management – -- Rely less on consultants
-- Trust employees more to do what you hired them to do
-- Make promotions more transparent
-- Value education more when hiring
-- Make pay more equitable among employees with the same level of education and experience.
