I have been working at Interstate Batteries full-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

Love the people and the stories. The customers and their stories are great, but you have to be inviting and open. It allowed me to get to know vehicles and keep working on them after being laid off from the automotive industry during the crash. Work environments are small and everyone seems to get along, as long as you work hard.

Cons

Management takes on a lot of responsibilities and people don't often stay long enough to help take over those responsibilities. The new computer system we waited years for is still substandard.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

For my store manager, keep it up, you're doing great.
To corporate, you need to be more accommodating to franchises that have both IBS and IABC. The way you price things just to go from one side of the counter to the other is transparent and wrong.

I worked at Interstate Batteries part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

People there are fun to work with. Very family oriented (If you know someone who works there you have a better chance of a job there). More likely to hire younger workers either just out of high school or currently in college.

    Cons

Depending on location can be boring. Prefers to hire younger workers. Can be physically demanding at times (Batteries are heavy!). More likely to hire younger workers either just out of high school or currently in college.
