I have been working at Intertek full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Good access to a wide level of business operations. Excellent exposure to my field of expertise.

Cons

Continuing Ed not delivered although often promised. Middle and Upper management extremely political which generated some pretty bizzare behaviors. Quality system faulty and frequently sacrificed for short-term $$ gain.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management should facilitate the quality of the product through supporting it's engineers. The work level is far too high to allow for consistently good work.

I have been working at Intertek (less than an year)

    Pros

good PTO package. global company with some opportunity for advancement.

    Cons

A negative culture which promotes abuse and mistreatment of employees. Foreign and minority employees are often reminded that they have been done a favor by being hired.

Compensation is all over the place. Management routinely chastises and verbally abuses employees. It is encouraged to humiliate someone so that "they learn their less".

Employees do not have a grievance resource. Human Resources is their to protect the interest of th e company and weed out potentially difficult employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Revamp HR and institute management training. No wonder you are always getting sued.

I have been working at Intertek full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Benefits are ok. Lots of inexperience around.

    Cons

    Very poor morale
Different rules for different people. A lot of unfairness.
People are expendable. Very Very high staff turnover.
Bottom line is king..equipment and furniture is ancient. Something out of the 70's.
Utter disgrace...many unprofessional people work for this company. They hire the first in so they dont get bogged down with interviews and doing their job properly.
    Promotion by attrition.
    Brains go unrewarded.
9 years in the same role...opportunities extremely limited.
A multinational run like a corner store..decisions made on the run and zero planning for the future at any level.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of the top layers (big $$$ little input) and give some respect to employees.
