I have been working at Intrepid Learning Solutions full-time

Pros

Smart, high integrity colleagues. Management genuinely cares about you and values your work. Nature of the work is interesting, with the opportunity to create and innovate. Better work life balance than at most professional services firms.

Cons

Like many small companies, too much stress can be placed on individuals when processes and products aren't mature enough. Candidates for non-salaried positions need to think carefully about the variable employment model and whether you can live with the risk of variable pay.

I have been working at Intrepid Learning Solutions

    Pros

There is ample opportunity for work with some really visible clients. Intrepid has a very diverse clientele that stretches across a very broad range of industries. And though there is always some ebb and flow, if you prove your worth and are willing to be flexible, you'll get your chances. If you hide or simply wait for someone to ask, you may find yourself without work.
Most of the people who work here are very upbeat and talented and though we have a hiearchy of management, etc. it is a pretty flat company, meaning you have access to the higher ups.
Also, Intrepid is incredibly flexible with regards to where and when you work, as long as you are getting your work done. And while the pay and benefits are not the best in the region, the flexibility and PTO time (up to 6 weeks) make up for it.

    Cons

The company is really just in its teens, meaning it still has some growing to do. Mistakes have been made during the time I've been here but we've learned from them and moved on. As we continue to grow, I'm sure we'll make more mistakes which is unfortunate but I've seen a lot of effort put into becoming a more scalable company focused on smarter growth.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay attention. Some of the more talented staff are moving onto better pay checks and better benefit packages. If you truly want to become a mature company, you'll need to ensure your high performers are kept happy.

I have been working at Intrepid Learning Solutions

    Pros

Provides a flexible work environment that will allow you to achieve a work-life balance. Work hours and work location is variable depending on project and/or client. There are many opportunities available to stretch your skills working on high profile projects for Fortune 500 clients and some very smart and experienced learning professionals. Projects are challenging, interesting and varied. You are consulted on whether your skills and experience are a fit for a certain project and/or client before being assigned to a project. You are rewarded and recognized for a job well done and high customer satisfaction. 401K and health insurance benefits are great if you can or do take advantage of them. Paid time off days can accumulate fast!

    Cons

As a variable time employee, you are paid based on the number of billable work hours you log per week. Long-term projects with stable clients is like gold. If you can get on a long-term project, you are set. Otherwise, you're on the bench or working just a few hours here and there. It's feast or famine and if you have not experienced that type of environment or are not used to the ups and downs of contract work, you will quickly become dissatisfied. Working remotely can make it difficult to connect with other Intrepid employees and get timely communication about what's going on in the company. You can feel disconnected at times.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue with providing varied and timely opportunities to communicate what is going on with the company. This is especially important for remote employees.
