Good training ground, but not a place to become truly excellent in your chosen career path.

I worked at Intuit full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Very nice people, and businesses with high barriers to entry. Because a few of Intuit's businesses literally print money (Turbotax & Quickbooks), the company has developed a laid back culture. There is time to explore and innovate in new ways, but it is often misguided.

    Cons

Not many A players at the company. It is one of the older silicon valley darlings, and has become a place where people go for 'lifestyle'. If you want to lean back and cruise for a few years, then Intuit won't be a bad place. You will put in moderate hours, get paid moderately well and work on a range of moderately interesting problems and products.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't be afraid to disrupt your own products, or else someone else will.

I have been working at Intuit full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

    Very good pay and benefits
    Mostly great people
    Good facilities and perks

    Cons

Politics are killing everybody - everyone is angling for themselves.
Senior execs talk about, and may even have, shared goals, but individual teams bicker about priorities.
Terrible place to be a manager - lots of responsibility, accountability, zero authority.
So many many many many meetings.
So so so so so much email.
Between email and meetings, you're working all the time without doing any work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Empower managers to manage - don't just leave it to VPs and Directors.
Do fewer things so people aren't stuck in meetings and email hell.
