I have been working at Intuit full-time (more than an year)

Pros

Excellent medical, dental and eye benefits. Opportunity to learn new technology. Co-workers are friendly, intelligent and helpful. Offices allow quiet work environment and increased productivity. Excellent gym and clean, pleasant campus.

Cons

Middle management can form wrong opinions about employees, overreact, criticize instead of giving constructive feedback, and don't ask enough questions. It can be discouraging! You don't want to speak up about anything to management or they will hold it against you. Middle management wants everyone to be a cheerleader every day and every minute. If you don't appear excited then management thinks you are not committed. Some managers micro-manage and give you a day to day and hour to hour schedule. If you are lucky you will get a manager who is not so structured. Also too many layers of management. The widely praised work-life balance varies on the project you are working on and the goals set by your manager. Not a lot of staff engineers. It takes years to reach that level.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Employees should be able to review their managers at mid-year just as managers are able to review employees at mid-year. Email messages don't have to be so harsh and abrupt when employees are doing their best. Managers should not overreact and make rash decisions. Be fair about granting conference opportunities equally to all employees in the group.

I worked at Intuit full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Awesome perks if you are at the right office locations
    Amazing benefits package
    Competitive salaries
    Good executive team
    The occasional amazing mentor

Intuit was a good place to work when weighing the overall balance of the amazing benefits package against a environment where it was boring and seemed exclusionary

    Cons

    Little investment in non-senior employees
Value education or nepotism over results and experience in promotion and mobility decisions
Little Interest in Small Business internally i.e Starbucks in office, national caterers etc.
Offices are like libraries very anti social, drab, and lacking alot of fun camaraderie
    Rewards only occasionally results based
Senior management rarely in tune with the feet on the street

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get more in tune with the true building blocks of the company and invest in your people.
