I have been working at Intuit full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

Intuit treats employee as the most important stakeholder. They truly care about you, and it shows in the number of ways - from compensation to work - life balance support, benefits that go beyond common.
For the most part hIgh quality people, knowledgeable, smart, good to work with.

Cons

being large widely distributed company, it is at times challenging to get to a decision without involving a dozen of people.
There are many business units comprising intuit, each watching out for their own bottom line., sometimes pulling in opposite directions.

    Pros

-Probably the best campus in San Diego
-great benefits: stock purchase plan, 401K match, healthcare
-wonderful gym: reimbursement for fitness activities
-cafeteria with subsidized healthy menu selection "eat right for life"

    Cons

Layoffs and reorganizations every year. Reorganizing the teams is done under the guise of 'career development'. It seems to be a ploy to keep everyone off balance and disconnected: there is no transition and knowledge is lost, it's a constant scramble.

Keep your mouth shut if you're not part of the "A" team, total disrespect for employee and co-workers. Daily standups (Scrum, Agile process) are opportunities to get thrown under the bus by the A team. If you are not on the A team and try to mimic what's been done to you, you are pegged as 'negative'. A no win situation.

Every year another aspect of the TurboTax functionality is transitioned to India, not a lot will be left in U.S.A. New hires are mostly from India and interns, co-ops and rotating engineers are numerous. Co-workers change weekly due to people coming and going all the time, no communication of such: new people just appear, and others just disappear.

Many clicks - just like high school. The new person doesn't have a chance to be part of the 'in' crowd unless they are a suck-up (sorry about that terminology). They have their own language and won't share or decode it for the new person.

Beware all ye who enter here.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop worrying about what your hair looks like, the type of hair products you use, etc. Stand back and look at the people as they move around the campus - dull, drone like behaviours. Not a lot of fun going on except for the 'clicks'. "Integrity without compromise" is a value - try putting it in practice.

    Pros

Decent benefits too cheap to cover a working spouse

    Cons

Yearly layoffs, bad management. micro managers, no steady leadership. After 4 years I have not grown and it's not for the lack of trying, learning and going above and beyond. It's a not what you know but who know division. A college graduate reporting to a high school drop out with NO previous management experience.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get out of the payment industry. We all know you are shuttering the LA office speed up the process.
