Pros

+ customer oriented
+ takes good/bad reviews seriously
+ friendly environment
+ managers can be friendly& down-to-earth but know when to manage
+ 25% discount
+ the change [ppl may hate it now but things don't just happen overnight, I think they're going in the right direction]
+ good hours during the holidays
+ spirit week [reminds me of high school and I loved the spirit]
+ recognition
+ new dress code [not business attire anymore]
+ flexible schedule

Cons

- even if your department is clean, everyone has to stay til the store is clean
- late nights
- random nights where you will have to stay til 4am because the store will be inspected the next morning
- favoritism
- difficult to advance
- so many employees so some hard workers aren't recognized
- some managers are biased
- cliques
- employee drama
- the change [i understand it takes a while but it's a pain in the ass to re-explain everything to customers]
- very very little hours after holidays [full time went to part time, part time went to under pay or no hours at all]
- not enough employees at closing. sometimes there would only be one person closing at Kids, and that's a pretty big department to close by yourself
- kept pushing others to get ICAPs or online sales.

    Pros

They have a good employee discount and, if you are good at your job, you can go far. I would say JCP does care about its employees.

    Cons

You have to have a college degree to get into a management spot no matter how much you know or how long you've worked there. The new changes to the JCP look is really taking away from what JCP built. They are shutting down branches all over my city.

    Pros

The Vacation time credit for previous work experience is a nice bonus. Was there 4 months and received credit for my previous employment years that was equal to 5 weeks!

    Cons

Poor/Inadequate Senior Leadership Team with regards to people Development
Not enough focus on enhancing Leadership skills
Too much instability since Ron came in as CEO
Haven't received a Manager's raise in last 18mos due to Company's poor financial results

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Feel that the Executives are trying to change too much without thoroughly assessing the pros/cons through. Also feel that the company is confused- unsure which direction that it is currently
