I have been working at J. C. Penney part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    Hourly staff is beyond wonderful.

    Cons

OHSA deliberately violated. Governors Plaza managers horrible. Lunches after working between 6-8 hours consistantly denied. You're lucky to get a potty break on warp speed. Managers are abusive and don't care if you pee your pants. HR doens't care either. The store manager hides in corners to gossip with the prettiest, lady managers. Managers not cross trained. Nobody there knows how to do their job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Corporate needs to terminate the entire management team for human rights violations and start from scratch with people who WANT to work.

    I worked at J. C. Penney full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Worked with wonderful people, learned so much about retail and was excited to help out my business clients. The campus is beautiful and convenient.

    Cons

    * Excessively long hours with no recognition
    * Leadership fails to provide a stable direction. Constantly changing their minds after spending millions of dollars to partially implement a plan, rather than testing it in a few key stores, then blaming the associates for it failing
    * Leadership is condescending and belittles employees who have spent their careers making this company great and is firing them because they are "JCPenney" people, not 'jcp people"...which is code for Apple minions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The board needs to step in and stop new management from ruining this company's legacy.
