    I worked at J. C. Penney part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

You learn to better your customer service skills and meet a lot of good people.

    Cons

The managers are terrible, nasty and don't care about their employees. There is a lot of favoritism among the employees and if you don't kiss managers behinds your in trouble. Some employees do their jobs and some don't and the employees that don't do their job the managers says nothing to them because those are the favorites and they tell the on everyone. The managers give employee of the month awards to employees that don't deserve it. Managers promote employees by how much you rat on others. You clean 6 or 7 department by yourself and at closing if you suppose to get off at 10 and some are schedule to 11 you can't leave. It never enough employees to close so you might not leave until 12 or 12:30 and you suppose to get off at 10.Pregnant associate are treated terrible.Team leads are terrible also because they create problems just to get you in trouble. Managers hire family and friends. Some of the managers friend are now managers
themselves. Manager are never to be found. They want you to do ten different things and still help the customers. Managers give hours to who they like and if your not liked you gets no hours. One manager yells at you all the time. They treat you like your stupid. if you get in trouble the mangers will tell you that you live to see another paycheck meaning the next time you might get fired. If you have a family emergency or if you get sick they won't let you leave. You can be throwing up all over JCP and you can't go home. They make you stay until its time for you to go home. You might
not have a schedule for a week and then you will get a schedule for 2 or 3 days.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

treat your employees better, listen to them, retrain the managers or hire new one. get rid of the rats and employees that don't do theirs jobs.
