I have been working at J. C. Penney full-time (more than an year)

Pros

All the remodeling has made the store a pleasant place to work and now that they have brought back coupons there is a lot more traffic in the store. We get to use these awesome little portable hand held devices to checkout customers any where in the store. These little nifty devices also have the ability to get online and order merchandise for customer not in stock and price check. They send us the monthly sets on ipads. The manger of this store is very involved on the floor and knows exactly what is going on as opposed to being in the office and looking at numbers all day. They have extremely high expectations and will help push you to the next level .....if you don't fall in the process great! If you loose a little hair from anxiety don't worry it will grow back. The sales associates are very pleasant and the HR lady is AWESOME!

Cons

The hours are atrocious if you work at a night store. But that probably differs store to store. Schedules seem to be only be given out a week to two weeks in advance except near Christmas. In the past when you started there was little training before you were thrown on the sales floor. Especially for management. But they have been posting some serious training on hand held devices similar to an iphone. Though this may not last being as the CEO who started it all was recently let go. Some of the changes Ron Johnson mad were very creative and seem like they will bring in Traffic.Like all the remodeling and new brands. Others like taking away the coupons didn't go over well and the company is having to some what start over again in this area as well as pricing

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Maybe the store leader could be a little less demanding, be a bit more positive and actually be happy when there's improvement instead of constantly pushing for more. Spend more money to raise moral of associates. Not separate them self so much from the the associate. Tendency to micro manage everyone when all associate do nor respond well to this method.
